1. When you visit our website

Type of data collected:
When you visit our website, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to our website server. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called Log file saved.

The log data includes the following content:
Name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user's operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page).

The IP addresses of website users are not stored. This can only happen in exceptional cases if the security of the server is threatened by external sources (e.g. security incidents, attack on this website) as long as there is a legitimate reason for this.

Use of data:
The data is used to maintain operational capability or security or for statistical purposes.
They are necessary to ensure a smooth connection to the website and to ensure comfortable use of the site. They also serve to evaluate system stability and security. The storage period is 90 days unless there is a legitimate reason for longer-term storage (e.g. security incidents).

The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 Paragraph 1 Sentence 1 Letter f GDPR.

Our legitimate interest follows from the data collection purposes listed above. Under no circumstances do we use the data collected for the purpose of drawing conclusions about you personally.

2. Cookies

Like many other websites, we also use so-called “Cookies”.  These are small text data that are stored in your browser and serve to ensure the functionality and security of this website.
This also includes “session cookies” which are deleted after you close the browser. Some functions (such as logging in to our website) require these cookies to be set. The information contained in cookies enables our website to be displayed correctly and makes navigation easier.

If you have logged in to this website with a user account (e.g. as an editor), the session data will be deleted 24 hours after the last contact. No IP addresses are stored in the cookies.

Under no circumstances will the data we collect be passed on to third parties or linked to personal information without your consent.

You can also delete all cookies yourself in your browser or delete the cookies automatically when you close the browser. You can also generally disable the cookie function in your browser. In the latter case, however, there may be restrictions on the use of this website. The cookies are used on the basis of Article 6, Paragraph 1lit f of the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (EU GDPR).

3. Contact Form
This site uses contact forms with which you can send us information. It is necessary to provide a valid email address so that we know who the request came from and can respond if necessary. The forms, like the entire website, are secured via SSL encryption to prevent the data from being read by third parties on the way from your web browser to the server. Your data will not be stored on the server, but will be sent to the contact address on this website and processed by our staff in accordance with the data protection regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany (BDSG) and the EU Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation). Data processing for the purpose of contacting us is carried out in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Sentence 1 Letter a GDPR based on your voluntarily given consent.

Your explicit consent is therefore required to use the forms. The legal rights to correct, block and delete your data apply.

To send the form data to the contact address, the server is also equipped with TLS encryption to protect against unauthorized access.

The data remains with us until the deletion is requested or within the scope of the statutory retention regulations.
